What Alan does

From the boundary fence to the back step.

Most jobs mix a few of these together: a new fence and a deck, a pergola over the patio, a lawn swapped for artificial grass with sleepers to level it out.

  1. Fencing

New fences and full replacements: closeboard and featheredge timber panels, boundary fences between neighbours, and smart grey composite runs.

Including the awkward ones, behind overgrown hedges or in tight spaces.

  2. Decking

Timber decks built to sit level with the back door, ready for a table and chairs, a hot tub or just somewhere dry to stand.

Often paired with a pergola or new fencing around it.

  3. Pergolas

Solid timber pergolas over a deck, patio or gravel area, giving the garden a frame and somewhere for climbers to grow.

Built on site to suit the space.

  4. Patios & paving

Slab patios and paths laid to a clean edge, from a seating area off the house to a path round the side of a shed.

Laid to a clean, straight edge.

  5. Gravel paths & borders

Low-maintenance gravel runs with timber edging, a tidy alternative to grass or tired slabs along the side of a property.

Timber edging keeps the gravel where it belongs.

  6. Artificial grass & sleepers

Artificial lawns laid on a proper base, with timber sleepers to build raised levels, steps and clean edges.

Turns a bumpy, patchy lawn into a level, tidy one.

  7. Clear-outs & removals

Old fencing, tired decking and garden walls taken down and taken away, so you are not left hiring a skip.

Before & after

Same gardens, before and after.

Two of Alan’s own jobs: uneven lawn and tired edges, turned into level artificial grass held in place by timber sleepers.

Her fence sat behind overgrown council bushes with barely any room to work. It still got done, and the old fencing and decking went with Alan rather than into a skip.

About

A local business, and you deal with Alan.

A.Garner Fencing & Landscapes is an independent fencing and landscaping business based in Newton Aycliffe, and customers mention Alan by name in review after review.

What they say is consistent. He gets back to people quickly, his quotes are clear, he turns up when he said he would, and he suggests improvements you had not thought of. One customer called him “a perfectionist”, and one couple booked him after seeing the fence he built next door.

Whether it is a single replacement panel run or a whole garden with decking, a pergola and a new lawn, the same care goes in.

“Totally reliable and very good at his trade. Alan got back to us really quickly, his quotes are clear and precise and he turned up when he said he would to start the job. Alan ploughed his way through the task with speed and confidence. The location of the fence was in an awkward situation with overgrown council bushes behind the fence but Alan was not deterred by the lack of space etc, he managed to work round it and the job looked great when he was finished. It also helped that Alan gave us a reasonable quotation for getting the old fencing and decking taken away, that saved us hours of doing it ourselves or getting a skip in. I am happy to recommend him for fencing work and I will be using him again in a few weeks time for more fencing replacement.”

“Alan did the fencing on our neighbours garden and we were so impressed we had him do ours. Cracking service, absolutely chuffed with the fence and a very nice bloke to top it off. Very reliable and informative about what he could do suggesting improvements we hadn't thought of. Can't recommend him enough.”
